Apple has previously been expected to announce a refreshed MacBook Air during the first few months of 2022 based on rumors and reports, but that now seems unlikely.
That’s after Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said that Apple is now set to ship the product in the second half of this year.
The new MacBook Air is expected to feature a new M2 chip as well as a redesign that will include new colors. While that was expected to come in the first half of 2022, that isn’t something we should now expect according to Gurman.
If Apple does indeed ship the M2-powered MacBook Air towards the end of the year, the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips used by the higher-end MacBook Pro are unlikely to ship until 2023.
Apple recently announced the M1 Ultra chip for the new Mac Studio, while a new Apple silicon-powered Mac Pro is also expected to be announced before the end of the year. With WWDC 2022 expected to take place in June, the odds are fair that we will see the new Mac Pro announced at that time.
